It’s a Lovely Day to Explore Summerville

Weekend trip to South Carolina did not disappoint.

Recently took a trip to Summerville, South Carolina to visit my boyfriend’s family and explore. We found the cutest local farmers market with fresh produce, murals, and a quaint flower stand: Red, White & Bloom.

I got my peaches out in South Carolina.

The next day, I had the best first experience of deep sea fishing! Despite waking up at 5:30 AM, it was refreshing to see the sunrise while out on the water. One thing I did not prepare for was the impact the sun has on you while out on the water! Seems like a “duh” situation but next time I will 100% wear more sunscreen. After four hours of fishing, I ended up with a gnarly leg tan, but also caught the biggest fish of the day!

The highlight of the trip was seeing a hammerhead shark!! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a good photo of the body but it had to be at least 6-7 feet long. Hammerhead sharks typically stay near coastal waters up to 260 feet deep, so seeing one while deep sea fishing was extraordinary! Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Summerville if we didn’t visit Folly Beach. My boyfriend told me Folly was one of his favorite beaches to come to growing up, and I can see why. It was quiet and secluded, without the usual beach crowd traffic that attracts Hampton Roads. It felt like we were on a private beach almost, with a bunch of cute shops close by. Safe to say that we will be visiting again soon to visit family, and hopefully in the warmer months next year we can come back!
