How to Make the Most of a Small Entryway

Our house has a tight and small entryway that I recently re-vamped to maximize space and style.

I want to preface this by saying that everything I used for this project was purchased from Amazon and B&M! I spent under $150 for this, the most expensive item was the shoe cabinet I ordered on Amazon. Our entryway used to have a small wooden shoe rack and a white coat rack that was in our house before we moved in, and it just felt so lackluster to me. I really want to make our entryway cozy and inviting and also get the most out of space for shoe storage.

Before settling on the shoe cabinet I bought, I was considering the Ikea Hemnes shoe storage unit, but I have heard such mixed reviews about the space available in that cabinet, and it has to be drilled into the wall. In our entryway space, we have a radiator and with us renting our house, it prevent us from drilling a shoe cabinet into the wall. Also, I have larger feet and I didn't want to risk not being able to fit all of our shoes into the Hemnes cabinet, because of the narrow shoe cabinets. So, after scouring Amazon, I found this shoe shelf for $105 and it would be a perfect fit in our entryway. Plus, it's so pretty!

This cabinet took me about 2 hours to install by myself and the instructions were really easy to follow. It fits 12 shoes, maybe more if you have smaller feet. I love how the shelves inside can be adjusted depending on shoe size and height, and it's pretty deep despite its small size. This shoe cabinet was worth every penny and I will definitely be bringing it with us when we PCS somewhere else.

I was able to find the shelf above the mirror at B&M for only £6 ($9 USD). I ended up using two nails to hang it on the wall after removing the wall hooks - and the small holes should be easy to fill whenever we do move out of our house. The black hooks on the side wall are also from Amazon and they have a sticky backing, that I put on blue painters tape to avoid ripping the paint off the walls whenever we take them down.

Overall, I'm really happy with hour our front entryway turned out. I think it looks so much better now and I love the fact that I am able to hide my shoes in our new cabinet, rather than having them out on the small shoe shelf.
