Exploring Palma de Mallorca: A 3-Day Adventure

Updated: Aug 11

Ah, Palma de Mallorca – the jewel of the Mediterranean and my favorite place we've traveled to thus far! If you're looking for the perfect blend of culture, excitement, and relaxation, this charming Spanish city has it all. Let's recount our recent escapade in Palma, packed with city explorations, a boat excursion, and the 2024 Euro finals. To put it simply: I never wanted to leave.

Day 1: Immersing in Palma's Rich Heritage

Once again, we booked our flight through Jet2Holidays.com and left out of London Stansted. I have to say that Noah and I love this airline company! They have some great affordable packages for flights, hotels and transfers - they even have payment plans!

The Palma adventure kicked off with settling into our hotel in the city: HM Jaime 3. This hotel was within walking distance to downtown Palma and nestled among tons of shops, restaurants, and markets. On our first day, we took a stroll through the historic streets of the Old Town. Cobblestone alleys and well preserved Medieval streets led us to the iconic Cathedral of Mallorca. Standing tall against the cloudless blue sky, this Gothic masterpiece is a must-see for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts alike. Palm trees adorn the walkways above and below the cathedral, offering a breathtaking view of the Port of Palma.

Next, we wandered through the Passeig del Born, an avenue lined with shops, eateries and bars. We headed back to our hotel to change for dinner at Restaurante SUMAQ, a Peruvian restaurant. The food and wines were amazing - we even bought a bottle of Peruvian Chardonnay to take back home with us! I honestly wish I would have bought two bottles, but I told Noah that we just have to come back to buy more. After an amazing dinner, we popped into some night clubs on the strip.

Day 2: Sailing Away into Serenity

For our second day in Palma, we booked a boat excursion through Get Your Guide and did a catamaran cruise of the coves of Mallorca. The water was so blue and clear with stunning rocks and mountain landscapes against the water. It was such a beautiful day and the views were incredible. Our boat excursion was five hours altogether, departing the port at 3 PM and returning to watch the sunset at 8 PM.

Day 3: Euro 2024 Final Fever

On our final day in Palma, we decided to explore the Royal Palace of La Amudaina and walk around the city taking photos and getting souvenirs.

As luck would have it, the evening of the last day of our visit coincided with the electrifying Euro 2024 Final against Spain and England. The city was alive with energy as passionate fans flooded the streets, draped in their national colors. After enjoying dinner at De Tokio a Lima, we were able to join in the festivities and watch the game from the Plaça la Reina with thousands of Mallorcans gathered together to cheer on Spain. Getting to watch Spain win the Euro was an experience like no other and a memory I will never forget.

Our 3-day escapade in Palma de Mallorca was nothing short of magical. I wish that we could have stayed for longer to explore other parts of Mallorca like Soller, Deia and the northern region of the island. We will have to return, because Palma definitely holds a piece of my heart.
