Chicago, the windy city! Noah and I visited Chicago in September with his parents to see the Chicago Bears opening home game, and to visit his family. It was such a blast!
First stop in Chicago was obviously the Magnificent Mile for some shopping! I have to say that the Nordstrom here was one of my favorite places to explore. I'm not really a bougie person, so I'm more experienced exploring the aisle's of a Nordstrom Rack, you know what I mean? When I saw that this Nordstrom had a coffee bar inside (apparently that's normal) I was in shock and awe. Not to mention all of the high-end products like Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo, etc. I didn't buy anything from Nordstrom but looking around was a lot of fun! While we were walking around, I did see the new The Office Experience under construction and that looked so cool! I wish we could have gone, but that will have to be experienced during another trip.
The best spot along the Magnificent Mile was definitely the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, courtesy of my boyfriend's mom (shout-out to Carolyn!)
If You Love Coffee... Stop Here
The Roastery Reserve was one of my favorite stops of the trip, because who doesn't love a four story Starbucks with a gift shop and a coffee bar on the top floor?! The Arriviamo Cocktail Bar was top tier and I'm so glad that we ventured here for a mid-day snack and drink.
I ordered the Cold Brew Spiced Rum and it was uhhh-may-zing! Sorry, I'm being obnoxious, but it tasted fabulous. It had notes of citrus and cinnamon, not to mention rum in a coffee based drink, so what's not to love? If you ever stop in Chicago, I would recommend paying this place a visit. They also had delicious cannoli's, FYI.
Daaa BEARS!
The most important part of our trip was of course, seeing the Chicago Bears. My boyfriend and his family are Bears super fans, so I had to embrace the holiness of our Lord, Halas, the Papa-Bear Almighty. I will say, this was my first NFL game and it was so incredible! The air of the stadium on game day, the beers, the smell of the food around the stadium, it was such a fun experience. When we went inside Soldier Field, we took some pictures at their different photo booth setups. Then, during the game, it was so much fun! I feel like I could ramble on and on about how cool it was, but bottom line, I definitely want to attend another NFL game. Hands down.
Overall, this was such a fun trip to go on with my boyfriend and his family. Lots of good eats around local places like the Nutella Café Chicago, Beatnik On the River and Peruvian food at Tanta. I told Noah when we left that I would love to live in Chicago one day, just for the city atmosphere. Did I mention that they also had a two-story Target store in the city? I mean, that should be a selling point in and of itself. I will certainly be visiting Chicago again in the near future.
